Yea I think I fucked up with the boiler when I clear lacquered the timber I lacquered the brass straps they are turning to shit I can see buffing them back

This is what I used and it's been great. It will scratch but so does copper. I've even re soft soldered some stuff and haven't burnt it off. It doesn't discolor, the copper will under it but you won't stop that anyway.

If your not in a hurry ill let you know how this goes in a week or so. got some buffing and polishing wheels and some California purple metal polish to test out then coat it with this below, once i buy the clear coat that is

Ended up going to the auto shop and got a can of engine clear

50l keg boiler 4" still mount 4" sight glass 1" drain..
4 plate 4" bubbler, 600mm packed section

Thx for the heads up. When you say engine shop do you mean like auto barn or supercheap or do you mean mechanic. how much was it?
