Essences rates calculations

G'dy all,

I am a little confused, put it down to the fact that I am well aged, as to how much essence I use. In the case, for instance of Gold Medal Hoggers Bourbon which the label claims makes 2.25 litres of final product.

Question.
Is the 2.25 litres calculated at the 92% A/V from the T500 or
Is the 2.25 litres calculated after I have reduced the A/V down to 40% with distilled water?

The second makes more sense to me but .... ?

Many thanks

Flavour wise If you made 2.2l at 95 it would be stronger flavour then same volume at 40 (higher solubilty at 95 then 40), but weaker once cut back to 40% to drink then if you made it at 40% to start with..make sense.. :handgestures-thumbupleft: (hint 2.2l 95% makes more 40% then 2.2l at 40%)

Thanks "Bluc" I agree of course. What I think I am asking is what is the essence manufacturer thinking?

As far as I know all essence instructions I have seen use 40%abv spirit, although the printing is so small on some ,requiring the trusty magnifier glass. And some I found could be used with more spirit and a few with less depending on personal taste, esspecialy if using chips or domoinoes. :handgestures-thumbupleft: cheers hillzabilly

Thanks so much all. That has made my Excel SS so much easier. So I can now immediately calculate the T500 spirit (copper enhanced of course), aqua pura and essence of choice. If anyone would like a copy of the SS, please just ask.

I think it is even possible to put it online via GooGoo spreadsheets or some such.
