Rye Whiskey Essences?

Postby Woodsy71 » Thu Jul 25, 2013 7:33 am

Gday Folks,

Just wondering if anyone has come across any decent Rye Whiskey Essences? Ive not got the time to go down the AG mash route and i can't seem to find any quicker alternate wash options ( any ideas welcome).
I was looking for something in a Canadian Club style.

Any opinions/feedback/recipes would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Woodsy

I have used the still spirits version before for the missus.

She reckons its allright but she mixes it with lemonade so she probably can't taste it anyway :laughing-rolling:

There is a recipe on modern distiller forum by Odin for a rye bread sugar wash.
I've got it the fermenter ATM and will be running it off on the W/E (hopefully)

Running this as I type now
Definitely a nice interesting flavour.
Not sweet like a UJSM
I used 750g german pumpernickel rye bread I found in supermarket
Will be doing this recipe again with 1kg of rye bread
