Do essences have a shelf life?

Does anyone know if essences would have a shelf life?
I have a still spirits scotch in the satchel packet that would be a couple of years old and theres no use by date on the packet.
I might just play it safe and ditch it but I am curious.

I dont really think there is a used by on them. My guess it is just burnt sugar and and few synthetic flavours. No of which will kill you anyway. Just give it a try whats a few btls of natural worth ? $5 :D

I just looked at a few flavours I have and none of them have use by dates on them.
I remember after the QLD floods there was a brew shop that went under, weeks later he was selling the packets without their cardboard covers for half price.
So it seems they are long life and flood proof :laughing-rolling:

As long as sealed they will last,if open they loose the taste and strength
