Yeah mate,

:text-+1: with Linny. Check the database.

Essences are hard to recommend because taste is a personal thing.

Try 10 black Jelly Beans in a 700ml bottle of Nuetral. Shake occassionally for an hour or two to remove all the flavouring.
Filter through a stocking. A really neat change once in a while, especially if you like black jelly beans.

Hey,

There is a seller on eBay that has put some pretty good essences together, I typed in home made rum and found this guy, he makes a blend of different essences to make a pretty decent clone of popular drinks. Just look for AUSSIE Billiards and home brew.

I have found the flavoured oak sacks from HBS are pretty good also.

Cheers.

My Mrs and her drinking mate really rate the Top Shelf Citrus Vodka. 2 bottles in a gallon of really clean 40%.

I was always of the assumption that what came out of my reflux still was vodka? Am I wrong? It smelt like vodka?

Seeing this post has come back up.
I've been buying Samuel Willards Irish Cream and Butterscotch Schnapps Premix.
They get a big :handgestures-thumbupleft: from me and the missus.

Yes, it is vodka. My mate who knows a good bit about vodka waters it from my reflux to 40%, pops it into the freezer for a couple of days, serves it from the freezer and swears by it. He reckons it even takes on a blue tinge.

Yeah, definitely shouldn't be turning blue!

Could be tails going cloudy, or copper or something from the still?

I though that about it going blue, so I tried it and it stayed clear.
I'm wondering if it's the water he used. I've not seen or spoken to him since he told me so I'll pass the message on. Thanks guys.

He's now using bottled water as opposed to tap, and it's no longer blue.

I did ask him to make sure he wasn't poisoning my clean product with swimming pool water.
