Edward Essences Single Malt Whisky

As a heads up, I'm very new to distilling, but an old hat at drinking Single Malt Whiskey. There is prob a better way to do this.. I will get there in the end.
I have tried 2 other essences, but they had a shocking before and after taste.

On my last wheetbix and allbran wash, I added a bag of Beer malt sugar from my local super market as suggested by a few of the guys here. This was Gen 3.
I normally double distill but on this run, pulled 2 litres of heads that closest resembled Irish Whiskey on the first run.
I'm running a Pure Distill reflux and the tap was on the fast flow.

I dropped it into 2 jars, added smoked oak chips. 4 blocks to each jar. ( The ones that came with the pure distill kit) Then split the bottle of Edward Essences Single Malt Whisky between each jar.
I basically halved the recommended amount.

I tested a small amount after only a week and it is really very good. It's at 98% so added 50% bottle spring water.

If your after a Scotch that is close enough to Jameson, this is the best I've come up with to date. And it is really very good.

he is using a reflux still. did you strip all the flavour from the malt with the reflux then add essence.

im a little lost. did you pot still it or reflux it and add essense?

also you might want to check the temp of your hearts cut before watering down. unless your in a vacuum you wont get anywhere near 98%

density changes with temperature, hotter expands. your alcometer is calibrated to 20 degrees

Hey Redux.

To be honest, trying everything. :)

I also have it just on oak chips and looking forwards to a taste in around 3 months. It will be hard to wait.
I really love the wheetbix/allbran recipe.

But as I tried this essence out, I thought it would be worth posting about it. I'm like a fat kid in a candy store at the moment.
To have such good results in 1 week was unreal.
I've had mates give me what they called whisky in the past that was bad beyond measure. They prob used turbos.
So was happy as to get the above result. Guess it's good for a quick result. But as I'm so new, can't tell yet.

Hope this makes sense.

It's a reflux. Plan to get a pot in the future. Still, a lot of the flavours come through when it is opened up compared to on a drip.
Showing 98% on the meter at 22 deg. Maybe my meter is out.

Again, I'm only new to this as mentioned in my post and sharing my experience with this essence..
