Yep going to try to run it shortly and yeah there was a couple of inches of wine but most of it is like that . Hope it doesn't burn to hell . I would normally turf stuff like this but I have 80 ltr's of it so fingers crossed it pulls the sliv out without too much drama

Got many low wines? I'd thin it a bit, maybe even some water - you can guess 5% abv by sight surely crow? :-)

I'm going to rung fruits a lot thicker next year, if you can get away with less racking and straining then do it!

I did one run that was just as thick and it didnt scorch, and could hear the pits rattling in the boiler :))

An added bonus I found out later, is that the slops from the boiler makes great weed matt, even 3 months later nothing has grown through it :laughing-rolling:

I got an amazing yield from this. It has a really exceptional flavour and there was absolutely no scorching, pretty good for plum chutney fired with a BD747 :D
I flushed the column while draining the boiler now all I have to do is remove all the slugs and snails and puppy dog tails from the bottom of the boiler

Good info fellas, :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft: I never would have thought it possible to run sludge like that without it burning / sticking/ scorching

OK it's going to to be a bit of a rush as my still and mashing setup is still a work in progress but plums wait for no man. I plan on using this recipe http://aussiedistiller.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3803 or a version of it for this first attempt and naturally a couple of questions for the boffins:
- I tested some really ripe plum juice from this batch with my refractometer which scored 10 brix (1.040 SG) would you lads still add as much sugar?
- I'll most likely use EC1118 as it seems well liked by most, however lots good reports with the wild yeast and these plums have plenty of it?
I'll run it through the bubbler when ready, should be the first real wash after the vinegar and sacrificial. :happy-partydance:
