Had another read through the grape thread but still not sure of the answer.

Thanks to a mate (Evanmac) it looks like there will be some excess wine to distill :D

I saw that Crow posted that reisling makes for a good brandy.

What other wines do?

I believe there will be reds and whites and everything in between.

Obviously it will be best to seperate and distill then they can be blended later if desired.

We will prob run most of it through my FSD Bubbler :handgestures-thumbupleft:

So brandy people, what ya reckon?

The red after a lot of oak will have a fair whack of tannin so I'd prefer the white. Any white on some French oak, with handful of raisins will give you a pretty fine brandy.

I'd probably go for some of the red like this too, it might not be as good.

Last bulk red wine I got given I put te whole lot through the reflux-twice. And it still had a noticeable tannin sort of twang.

Well ended up running 72L of unwooded chardonnay through the bubbler, then been on french oak for the last 3 months and I must say that it is quite good :D

Surprised at how quick this turned on the oak, it smelt and tasted god damn awful off the still, but there you go, oak is magic :happy-partydance:
