Hi all .

Just wondering if anyone has tried soaking (macerating ? ) fruits in say a %65 neutral ?

After my most recent spirit run Im looking at a couple of lt spare and Im thinking what would happen if i soaked a few of the Cherries in a jar of it for a while ?

Ive done Cheeries before in store bought brandy but not in a neutral . :think: :think: :think: :think:

I do a version of apple pie with a heap of apples and it's amazing but too sweet for more than one.

Yeh , spotted that , the options are endless I spose . There is a whole subculture of Gdroppers in Zacs thread . No doubt some shadowy characters and secret handshakes etc 8-}

Ive just done a jar of Locally bought American grown cherries , so maybe this will be a PD because of the Yank connection ?

For best results, freeze the fruit first... Did you remove the seeds?

Hey Ezi ...
I am a fan of the old aniseed spirit myself and I have a simple but effective way of making quite a nice drop.
I just use plain old black liquorice twists. About 300gm soaked in 40% neutral until they are completely dissolved. Give it a regular shake up. Then strain it through muslin or whatever you use.
Turns out a medium brown colour, nice and clear and a lovely drink. I love adding a bit to an espresso :handgestures-thumbupleft:
