Another copper bubbler and column extensions

Postby emptyglass » Mon Oct 15, 2012 8:30 pm

I am in the process of making a full copper 5 plate 4" bubbler, as per the previous ones, $1550 plus post (about $80 inc reg and ins).
For anyone interested in a fully polishied one, nows the time to put your name on it. I dont polish them once made.
Polishing will add $150. It wont make it go better, but it does make them even prettier. It does make them hard to take pics of, as you see the reflection of the camera in the copper.
If no one wants a fancy pants version, I will continue on...
The brushed raw finnish does look pretty good anyway.

All stainless parts on this still will come from McStill. (He has the best prices :handgestures-thumbupleft: )

For the guys that have inquired about the vodka making column, I'm still trialing some ideas, but progress is good. So are the results.
I can make packed sections on order, but in a week or two I plan to make them as a 5 plate "add on" option.
These will attach to other brand stainless stills. Might be a good way to get some copper into the vapor path for those guys.

Cheers, and enjoy responsibly...nahh, just enjoy it.

That is beautiful. Excuse the newbie question but is there a tool for making those angled pipe cuts like you have shown on the collector or is it simply hacksaw and file?

Cheers

Hacksaw and a file mate.
They are all hand and machine made, not mass produced.

I'm happy to guarantee workmanship. If one does arrive with any issues, I'm happy to make 'em good.
And you won't get any rust on copper.

No, there is a sightglass on the side that you can watch the instuctional video as you run it. It also has a button that takes you straight to your favorite website (here) and an auto adjust feature so we can remotley optimise the running of your still for you without you having to put your glass down. Nahh, just kidding, but a dvd is not a bad idea. Probably cheaper than the printed instuctions supplied, and would be more informative.

Just an update,

The still mentioned is now made, just waiting on a package from the mailman containing the triclamps for the packable extension.

Pics coming soon and possibly some vids. Should be good.

Might make a good christmas present? Admit it, you have worked hard all year, and deserve it.

Well here it is. 4" 3 plate with detachable packed section 850mm long.
Packed section contains scoria/lava rock, but can be packed with rasching rings, marbles, structured copper or with the windows, another plate tree with 5 plates.

There are a lot of combinations that this unit can be set up. Some combo's are known to work, some have not even been tried yet, so there is lots of room to try different things.

So far its made 70%abv whiskey at 3.5 litres an hour, and 95.5%abv very clean vodka at 2.5 litres an hour.

Package includes the bottom 3 plate section, the top packed section and the rest of the still including parrots beak, alcometer and instructions. Its a pure copper still (only the threaded rod and nuts for plates is not copper), and its all soldered with 15% sliver solder.
Just needs a boiler, water and thermometer.
$2200 plus post.
