Looks to be an easy solution then do away with the supplied nut. , 1 x 1" ss fitting 1 x 1" bsb plug with hole drilled for the cable 1 x double terminal block earth with screw lug screwed directly to 1" ss fitting. :think:

That should work but maybe use a 1" to 1.5" reducer and a 1.5" cap so you have a bit more room for wires.
Or just use the copper ones mac has already done just need another 1" bsp nut to secure it.

There doesn't look like there is enough thread left to put another nut on thats the problem ,if you used one of Macs copper jobs you wont get a nut on. :angry-banghead:

I think with the copper ones you incorporate the nut into the design so you only need one. But happy to be corrected.

I haven't go one in my hands so I was only guessing. It all depends on how long "E" is in macs detail. I was just looking at one of the weld in elements he has. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just use 1 nut like Distillation said.

Yes could well do, plenty of time to figure it out anyway, Mac have you got a pick of those ss 1" fittings ?

The guard will fit between the nut and the keg, the silicone seal goes inside the keg ;-)

If you where going to use a terminal block your going to need a ceramic one that could handle the temp.a bit like this one

Personally I wouldnt use a terminal block, I would solder & use heat shrink.

I have an idea for an element guard and know it will work, I might just need "coupla days" to get it sorted ;-)

OK guys n gals there's only 12 elements left at the special price of 2 x 2400 watt elements express posted for $105, that's a $9 saving on what will be the regular price ;-)

Yeah I knew they'd go pretty quick, a lot of members have been holding off on the others to get these instead.

So much easier if you dont have access to welding gear.

I'm going to pick up a few bits to make a guard today, I'll put a few pics & a little write up here this evening :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Parts needed are

1" BSP flanged backing nut
2" x 1.5" reducer
30mm of 1.5" pipe
1.5" cap
Cable gland.

The new POP (piece of piss) element guard :D
