Neutraliser Height

Can someone please tell what the total height of a neutraliser without a boiler is? I reckon I could have clearance problems if I fit one on my new 100l milk can.

Cheers,
Prof. Green

Hi Prof. Green,

Just off the top of my head this morning as a complete figuration on your 100ltr you would need about 2600mm in height, this is using a 4" x 100mm section off the boiler instead of your 4" x 2" that you have with the pot still.

Once were are in the shop today I will be able to provide you with a more accurate still height.

Cheers

What about with a flat reducer off the boiler, and a blockhead? Or just running 4 plates and a packed section with low wines for a neutral run?

Or a skylight? :laughing-rolling:

EDIT; Bayshine beat me to it...

Skylight, or perhaps a new shed!

I may have to adjust the plan slightly in one of the the directions you've suggested Zak. I would have been running low wines anyway so not too fussed if can't make neutral with a single run.

I guess sometimes bigger is not always better!

Prof. Green.

I have a 2inch-4inch reducer like yours that I have made into a RC with 7copper tubes ,made it for another project ,but useded in your case will save the height of the other RC,that and removeing the 100ml section of the boiler would put ya pretty close,it may not be as effective as the standard set up as I have never used it in that configuration, its just getting dusty now, happy to lend it if ya would like to test it out, once ya get your neutraliser with standard RC, as I have the best respect for FSD and it's products .cheers hillzabilly ;-)

Hi Mrs Mac,

Does this height include the boiler or is it the FSD neutraliser only? I am looking at this rig, but I didnt realise it would be this high.

Unless you have higher ceilings than the standard, the neutralizer as it is will not fit inside the house. I have short reducers (2" to 4") and just have enough clearance using a keg boiler with raised ceilings...
At least in WA anyway, can't speak for the other states :teasing-tease:

The skylight suggestion is not entirely without merit as I have one in my kitchen that is open right up to the roof line. It would be a little cumbersome as I would need to lug full fermenters from the shed to the kitchen and run cooling hoses through the house but it could be done. I would still prefer to not do it in the house if didn't have to though.

It turns out I actually have 2400mm from floor to ceiling in the shed so I'm hoping I can still tweak the configuration to fit!

Prof. Green

1850mm is the height of our Neutralizer from the boiler connection :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You can save around 200mm by going for the blockhead top ;-)

Is it a gyprock ceiling in the shed?

If so I reckon you need a large man hole above where you are going to set up the still ;-)

Sadly no, it's the galvanised roof of the shed. Perhaps one of those lift up vent things they have on caravans and busses would work!

Having now measured the boiler, I can say that the boiler plus the neutraliser is going to be around 2600. I reckon I'll b able squeeze it in if I go with the blockhead ans shorter reducers as suggested. It's going to be a tight fit but I'm determined to get it happening.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.
