I think he means fuse in the power controller?

Finally got to use the power controller on the weekend. 3 runs and no problems with it at all. :teasing-nutkick:

I got one of these threw it in a j box wired it up and got the sparkies to check it done maybe 20 or so runs with it

I rewirded my fuse back in as suggested. Blew two fuses before taking it back out again on the weekend (had a run to do). Guess I best find a new electronics person to check it out. :handgestures-thumbdown:

:text-+1: I got a safety switch wired into mine as well. I got mine for $13 including delivery at the time.

Sounds like you have too much load on your distilling circuit.
Have you thought about getting some of those resettable fuses rather than running old school wire?
Or better yet disconnect all the other appliances on the circuit while you are doing a run.

When they wired my house they put ALL power points on one circuit and lights on another.
Yes i have a smallish house but its a bit annoying that i can't make a cup of tea or do thw ironing while the dryer is on.

I thought about that mate when I first started using the controller. I have a dedicated 10A circuit running to the shed from the meter box. Everything, including lights run off this circuit, so before I start the run I switch everything off in the shed so theoretically I have 2400w to play with. The element in the boiler is 3000w so I have the controller turned down to 16 (maximum power is 20 on the dial) which I'm just taking a wild guess is somewhere near or under 2400w. It must be something to do with the power to the controller as if I go over 2400w the shed circuit breaker throws. I'm putting it down to dodger Chinese equipment...

I'm no sparky but I think if using a 240v circuit divide by 3000 watt gives u 12.5amps so possibly to much for a ten amp plug hopefully someone else can help u sorry it's all I can come up with

10A x 240V = 2400W max. There's probably some efficiency losses in the power controller, and maybe some losses in cable length, so the real life max might be somewhere lower than 2400w.

You're absolutely right there mate. But, by turning the potentiometer down I'm figuring that I'm turning the wattage of the heater down. Then again, maybe I'm turning down the input voltage? I really wish that I had accepted the sparky apprenticeship instead of the fitter...

Yeah so if your element is 3000 watt when u turn it up u probably r going over the 2400 allowed and the reason for the breaker flicking off

Maybe test the controller on something smaller like a fan and c if it works
