I got 2 Tilt hydrometer for my 200 L fermenters.

After setting it up ( took awhile to work it out ) got them going.

They are not bad. Helps me check without opening the lid and I can check online.

Anyone else tried them?

Any battery life problems. Would you buy them again knowing now what they are like?

Yeah I reckon it's great. No problems at all. I have seen a few bad things about them but so far so good.

The guys who sell them were helpful, the only thing I had trouble was setting it up, but once I got that sorted out it went alright.

I plan on getting a few more for other fermenters. I like having the log of everything and seeing what's happening inside.

You can probably extend the time between data points to help with battery life.
Once evey 6hrs is probably fine enough.
No need for minute to minute, ferments don't move that quickly.

That sound like a good idea tho.

Yeah that was just an example one when I was setting it up..

The battery lasts a fair while. I haven't changed them yet and I've used them for 3 washes each.

Bluc pointed these out to me a while ago as I am also very interested!

I like the idea of 'instant' information... but it's developing a kind of impatience in me.. :angry-banghead:

What was your total cost, if you don't mind me asking?

Is there a difference between the colours or is it purely "Fashion"?

Different colours work on different channels. So you can use more than one at same time..

I know these are pretty cool gadgets but why? I can understand using them on a commercial scale where you need to know how your 1000L plus ferment is going but for a hobby still?

I'm just a simple drunk, if it ferments fully, I drink it, if it doesn't ferment fully I drink it :laughing-rolling: just don't get as much :laughing-rolling:
All good for you blokes to try new things and use modern technology, your findings might help everyone out one way or another

I've never made anything that great yet :laughing-rolling: or at least never left it alone for long enough to find out, but I know what I put into the wash, I know what the gravities are start and finish and I know how I run my still... hour by hour updates on how my wash is fermenting seems overkill at this level to me.
