Quick question these cable glands

Are they available to suit a dual lead setup. So like a y version so two leads can be passed through to the same location?
I got my rims tube and want to use a 3600w element setup as two separate 1800w elements.. Only piece of the puzzle is how to pass two cables through the element guard. Cheers

If you want to keep them rated to the IPxx (water, splash, dust, etc), you will need to use 2 of them
Otherwise, they come in larger sizes -20-25mm should cover it.

Yer as per RC Al, these glands are used as a weather proofing entry/exit point for a cable... the way I see it, you have 2 options:
1) use 1 gland and have the ‘Y’ split on the insid or the outside; or
2) as mentioned, use 2 glands...

I'd run a single 5 or 6 core cable (should only need a single earth attached to both plugs but could run 2 for extra safety) into a length of cable and split it all out inside your control box which would be away from the wet area a bit. Unless you can find some sort of 5 or 6 pin plug and socket rated to 20 amps you can plug into your control box.

I'm not a sparkie but that's how I'd most likely do it then get it checked by a mate.

I have thought about a 6 core cable that would take care of the rims tube end but I would have same problem the other end. I need a dual lead As I need to run each half off a seperate circuit. House has two 20a circuits for power points. I would not like to run more than 1800w off one half of house. House needs to function normally while I am mashing circuits basically split the house down the middle.... :-B :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Found the multi hole inserts but the cord would still need to be insulated. Maybe a metal box with one of macs 2" still adapters and two glands just not as slick as the standard element cover. This is sort of what I was thinking of

You are aware that 20A is good for 4800w.
And you have 2 circuits.

Just make sure that it is not a 20A breaker in a 10A circuit.

Trust me this is how it needs to be run or circuit breakers trip. Maybe if I turned off everything it may be sweet but that aint gunna happen..I could also prob just use a 2400w element. But 3600w is better. Especially when 90l liquid is being heated during step mashing..

If you want to run two 1800W elements from a single phase 15A outlet you could run a two core and earth lead from the outlet into an insulated box with a three core and earth lead to the two elements.

And always have a qualified electrical worker check your work :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You could always just mount a plastic junction box over the hole in your controller and put 2 holes in the junction box for regular cable glands.

Or put IEC sockets on the junction box and use that 6-core cable from j-box to inside your controller.
Then you just put IEC plugs on the leads you are going to run.
Easier to roll up and store.

Then the question is do you need 3600w in a RIMS tube?
Considering the smaller volume it has to heat?

Would a tegular 2400w element do you.

I want to do big volume and want to be able to step mash, so to ramp temps fast, faster the bigger. On the beer forums lots use 4800w inside rims, also gives them on demand hot sparge/strike water :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I did a search for multi hole inserts, but the only electrical stuff I saw used batteries :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Ended up I bought one of these type of junction boxs


Wont be pretty but should do thd job :handgestures-thumbupleft:
