Hi Guys I have one of those Blue 200+ ltr barrels that i will use for cooling water and i dont want to put a hole at the bottom of the barrel for water outlet to pump, so it must be a Submersible type now i know the fish tank / pond pumps aren't much chop so i was deciding on these two types . one is 12 volt thats preferable and the other 240 volt not so desireable .Has anyone got any feed back as too witch one would be the best one to puchease .Cheers :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Haven't used one on a still but that little bilge pump moves a lot of water in my boat.

You could get away with that one I reckon if you prefer 12v

I reckon bigger the better and would go the 240 will be handy when you upsize from the 200L barrel

How many GPH flow rate should i look for or not real a issue it will be suppling a standard liebig 3/4 over 1/2 and standard lenght .

straight up I've got a 550W pump, cos it needs to pump and return about 10m away. It's so over kill I user 4 x 19mm take offs to bleed pressure and reduce flow and that's to a shotty and a RC.
What you have pictured is well well more than able to do the job...but you'll need to bleed flow/pressure off with at least...estimated 3 x 1" or there abouts

If you want the power like bt1's, 550W submersibles about $78 from Bunnings, but as he said more powerful then needed so have to use a return line to your tank.

This is mine it's 400w and have never used any sort of return line and its still going strong after well over 100 hours run time and moving water well over 10m

That's exactly what I use Sam, they'll pump all day even if it's not transferring water with your coolant valves turned off.... without burning out ;-)

Hey mate, what's the reason you want 12v?, if you don't mind me asking. Have to agree the bunnings pumps are good, mine was $50, 250w I recon it's just right for stilling, not to much power and not to less, im like Sam and have to pump a wee way.

Yes well after some more thinking the 240 volt pumps i am guessing will most likely run a lot quieter than the 12 volt dc jobs and last longer too. so know i think i will get 240 volt Pump.. F_ck me i am worse than a bloody women. :)) :))

Was just perusing and saw this thread. I've got a 750W submersible from Bunnings for $75. Pumps a ridiculous amount of water...I'm surprised during the first run a few weeks back it didn't blow my hoses off the fittings. Thank god my condenser is welded up tight enough to cop the pressure.

Excellent choice 1 2 many.Pleased you didn't go the 12v way.Those things in my experience are very limited life wise.I have a very similar 300 W model to what you bought .It will cover you needs

thats what i use. run a few times with no problems. i just drop it into the spa and away it goes
