Hot water tank element

Hi everyone,

After lurking on these forums for a while and obsessing over building my own still, I have finally pulled my finger out and started getting together what I need.

Where I work I am able to get these replacement elements for hot water tanks for next to nothing. From what I can gather, I should try and avoid using the rubber and find something else to seal the element to the side of a keg. Does anybody have any recommendations on what I should be using?

The method I plan to use to attach the element to the keg will be similar to what I've found here:

The seal on element does that have exposure .

I think you will b fine with that element. Use some silicon baking tray for gasket.

Only safety issue I see is how you terminate the leads......you must not be able to touch the connections .
You must be able to trip over the led and not have it rip out and have bear wires exposed....the earth lead should always be tje longest lead so that if the lead does get ripped out, the keg remains earthed until the last second.


What power are those elements

It is a 3.6kW element.

I'm looking to utilise extra length on the bolts to attach a guard to the back of the element to house all the wiring. I haven't got it 100% figured out yet but I am thinking of just finding a terminal block I can wire a power lead to and then just screw the element leads onto.
