What i want is a cord going into my box and a cord going out. 2m length going in and 2m going out from box to plug/boiler. that way im not stuck with space as my boiler sits on the bench and floor depending on how many sections i have on. ill use the same wiring inside the controller too. I think ill get 5m of Olex 2.5mm Orange 2 Core Electrical Cable this way it wil run 2400W elements too. im using the T500 now but i will get more power in the future so ill make it fit 2.4kW if that makes sense :think:Cheers WTD

2.5mm will give you a bit more margin to play with for sure. How come a 2 core though? You want a phase neutral and an earth as well.

If you are going to do that you should upgrade the powerpoint outlet to a 15 amp one ( heavy duty looks the same but has a stronger longer earth pin) drops straight on to the existing powerpoint and get a 15 amp male and female socket to run in and out of your controller . :teasing-blah:

I thought 2 core and earth was enough? a load wire, neutral wire and a earth wire? or is this wrong?

whats a phase neutral and earth?

cheers

If you read the title it says 2 core but the description says 3 core :-B
Im no sparky but the wire souds fine if its 3 core :handgestures-thumbupleft:

its pretty standard.....in sparky speak as far as when i worked for them it was always twin core + earth
or single core, or twin core

the earth usually isnt counted from that perspective as not all cable has earth in it....

that way its easy enough to differenciate between 3 phase 2 phase and 240 wihtout people having all diffrent words

240 - 2 core
2phase 3 core
3 phase is 4core

with the option of earth

All good. Missing a comma , You call it Active, Live or Load we call it Phase. + Neutral + Earth. = 3 cores

cheers guys for the reply's...

I was in masters today looking at their cable glands as Bunnings didn't have any in and im unsure how they seal up. it has a cable range of 5-10mm but as i tightened them they didn't change the internal diameter  these were what i was looking at at Masters but they were white not black. if i get these will they work like this video. i figure they are basically the same?
Bunnings ones are these and Jaycar are these.

which ones would be recommended or is there another sort i should be looking at for this cable, its about 9-10mm. im not fussed on it being water proof as I'll have holes for my PC fan but i don't want the cable to move or have stress on it. i want it firm

cheers

Yeah mate anyone of those will do the job and are installed just like the video, but it is a lot easier to remove the outer nut and rubber washer and install those onto the cable before trying to push it in like the video. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

There is a rubber gromet that the cable goes through inside the plastic that tightens on the cord :handgestures-thumbupleft:

still waiting for my scr, ordered 23rd sep :angry-banghead:
got the rest :D

anyway im looking to bolt my PC fan onto the lid of the box, the clear side. this will be the top and i will have the fan here blowing air out/up from the box. the hole size in my PC fan to mount it is about 4mm so im wondering about these bolt/nuts from bunnings.
The head will be on the top of the box and im wondering about them being steel. if i use them and they are touchable should they be earthed, all 4 of them or should i search for plastic ones? like these from jaycar with these nuts

i want to save money so if i can use the bunnings ones all good but if thats unsafe I will spend the extra getting the nylon ones. cost is getting up there
