Jaycar voltage controller?

This looks like a viable ready made voltage controller, certified. I know everyone here builds their own, but with the cost of a sparky out to certify, it seems like a viable option.

Thoughts?

Hi Bumper,

I don't think it would be suitable for use on a boiler as it wouldn't handle the current required for the element. 500VA at a rough approximation is 500W max. Elements for boilers are typically > 2000W.

I built mine for $100 and that was with a control systems engineer to check it over after i built it

Few years back the Jay car unit had a bigger brother that would handle higher power. That unit is no longer available.
A simple SCR or phase angle controller can be built a lot cheaper
