Being something different from the normal i would suggest you test it before you actually use it.
To test it i would leave it in a jar of high %ABV ethanol for a week or two then take it out and look for any colour change or smell in the liquid, inspect the seal for any changes and then dilute the ethanol back to 30-40% and see if there is any after taste.

If you notice any change ditch it.

And you do realise that proper EPDM seals cost less than $3...

it is only to get the thing up and running for 1 or 3 runs ( practice more than anything )until i go to the big smoke (this coming monday ). the seals may only be cheap but not where i live and i ran the thing last night on that seal . also the amount of gasket in contact with the steam is bugger all . but thanks for the input and advice anyway and all taken onboard .i was actualy going to use a thin cardboard gasket but when i spotted these washers in the hardware i thought that will do for now .

Step 1: buy t500 to triclamp adaptor.
Step 2: buy 1m of 2" copper, 2x 2" F-F capillary joiner and 2x 2" 90° capillary F-F elbows.
Step 3: buy 7x 2" triclamp ferrules, 4x epdm or silicone seals and 4x 2" clamps.
Step 4: cut 1m length in half.
Step 5: solder 1 ferrule into each end of each elbow.
Step 6: solder 1 ferrule into 1 end of each 2"joiner.
Step 7: solder other end of each joiner to one bit of the 2" copper.

Congratulations you have just made a 2" pot still.

Now you need to cool the vapour down, either use the other length of 2" copper, ferrule/joiner (will need to buy another ferrule and joiner at step 2) to make a shotgun PC, or make a 3/4" over 1/2" leibig condenser.
Or buy a 2" PC from 5 star distilling...

Or if you have no soldering available buy the bits to make a "pelican" pot still.
1x300mm sanitary spool, 1x sanitary 45° bend, 1x sanitary 180° bend, 1x 2" PC from 5star.

Or whatever.

This is a great build, just what I was looking for, as I've just asked elsewhere about turning
My T500 into a pot.

This is awesome mate, great job. any chance of the build dimensions? I reckon I will try my hand at this or something similar as I have a t500 also
