I think most just use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water.

I built a pot still and parrot no where as fancy as these bubblers thats the next build i think

Im gonna do a vinegar run this arvo then do a run with a bag of goon and then i have 50l of turbo to do and once ive cleaned out my fermenters ill put down my first tpw

Be aware, you're going to get a lot of blokes coming along saying neutral through the pot still is a waste of time very soon

That was gonna be my next q am i better off using my reflux head for the neutral or use the pot to do a striping run and the use the reflux

You will get much better results with a flavored wash through a pot still :handgestures-thumbupleft: Cereal based washes are a good starting point all though most of the recipes in the Tried and proven are very easy to follow. What do you like/normally buy?
Zacs cornflakes whiskey produces a bourbon styled drink, the weetbix wash through a pot should give you a subtle wheat whiskey.
My personal Fave is Mac's MacWhiskey. No-one only makes one of those :laughing-rolling:
Then you have the BWKO and Rums that most of the experienced guy always do.

Reflux definitely for a neutral. Its reported that using a low wines charge through a reflux head produces outstanding results.

Yeah im keen to try the flavored washes not sure on how u flavour after that is it leave in the demi and add oak chips and such

You will get flavor carry over from the wash itself then oak for a period. Have a search for oaking there is plenty of information on here :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I made a adaptor to put the reflux on the keg boiler as this was my first option before i built the pot still

I have already put 3 demis down full of 40% 1 on whisky chips from hbs and a jd and wild turkey barrel chips from hbs as well
the jd and wild turkey are over a month old and are really smooth and yummy

Ive got a turbo classic and a sam willards ready to go at the moment but soon as my fermenters are empty i was gonna go tpw

So i read keen to try a few different types rum on the list but bourbon is much higher as my preffered drop and the old man wants me to do a single malt

next week i should be getting another keg and 60l fermenter

I got some copper scourers on the way home this arvo and put them in the expansion part of my pot

You may find at 40% it ends up quite woody flavoured, it is ideal to age between 60 and 65% most going for either 65 or 62.5 :handgestures-thumbupleft:
