Just finished knocking this girl together for my dad for Xmas. He told me this morning he wants a pot still so I had a look in his shed at the copper he had. Ended up with a 2inch column into 19mm lyne arm with a 32mm over 19mm leibeig 750mm long condenser.

Thanks man, first time soldering too. I was worried it would be a real head fuck but I found if I kept everything clean and used a good amount of flux the solder just follows the heat of the torch all around the join. It actually surprised me how easy it is, don't know what I was worried about now lol. Whole build took about 3 hour's. Just have to clean and polish now. You guys have any tips?

Solder clogs sandpaper and files fast :laughing-rolling: i reakon a wire brush on a benchgrinder may do the trick. Not sure whats sort maybe a brrass one?
Btw how did you attach to the keg ferrule or easy flange?

It sure does man I tried that lol. So its time and patience then, dam and blast. Easy flange as per Mac's instructional thread for the keg join.

Yeah mate that's an awesome present for your dad :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Are you going to tell him to steer clear of turbos or wait to see what he gets you for Christmas? :laughing-rolling:

He has been brewing turdbos for years, but he loves Bundy and he has been blending his turdbo rum with bundy. At least now he can make real rum and if he doesn't like using it I'll attach it to my keg. I'll probably get a bottle of turdbo Bundy for Xmas that I'll take with a smile on my face, then put it in the cupboard.

I reakon once he tastes his own real rum(not essence) he will never look back or buy bundy. Before i stopped drinking I was a 1 bottle every week (two bottles most weeks) bundy drinker. I havnt bought a bottle of bundy since i started this hobby.. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hey guys I'm going to do the vinegar and sacrificial tpw run on monday. If I find any leaks ( pretty sure I won't as I filled the whole thing with water and left it for ages and there was no wet spots on the concrete.) Do I flux the leaking area and re solder or do I have to take the whole join apart and start again?

If you can get away with just preping and fluxing the leak go for it. For the ones that won't seal, worst case scenario you will need to desolder :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thanks Rummy, I'm fairly confident it won't leak but better to know how just in case

Got a chance to do the vinegar run tonight. Can I use a glass cut jar to look for leaks? Don't have a glass mirror at all.

Just finished the sacrificial run on this unit with my old man and I have a few questions that I hope you guys can answer, we got a 4.150 litres in total out of a 25litre tpw. Does this sound right? Took it down to 20% abv. Also when I made it for him I did a citric acid soak for 24 hours after all the soldering, then washed it out with rain water, then a steam run to clean, also washed out with rain water, then a vinegar run of 50/50 vinegar and water, then another rinse with rain water, then our sac run today. She is definitely right to make rum now I assume?

Sure is ready :handgestures-thumbupleft: havnt done a tpw but i normally get 4.5l low wines at 40% from mcrum so sounds ballpark for volume . And thought i would add from a spirit run i keep 1.7l at 75% from the 4.5l :handgestures-thumbupleft:
