New 2" pot still

Postby Fishleg » Tue Apr 25, 2017 6:34 pm

Finished my 2nd attempt at a pot still yesterday. It's 2 inch into 2 inch shotgun with 4 x 750 mm long 1/2 inch pipes in it.

( the 3 inch 9 tube shotgun I posted about a couple of weeks ago turned out to be more of a sprinkler than a condenser. I thought it was leak free but it had microscopic leaks all thru the end plates which you couldn't see just by filling it up. Under pressure they were much easier to see  )

Anyway did vinegar and cleaning sac run on the new rig today so she's good to go.
The shotgun is shitloads better than my old Liebig! I can have my 4 ring burner running full noise and the shotty knocks down everything with only a dribble of water :-D so pretty happy with it. Here's pics

im still having issues with uploading, it's not a problem with my pics as I've tried to upload pics that I have already previously successfully uploaded and they don't work either.

Nice simple pot :handgestures-thumbupleft:
One thing, is the collection tube( 1/2inch that goes to the jar) soldered or just pressed on? Reason is if it's not soldered it could fall off and you've got output dribbling on your gas flame.

Nah she's soldered on mate
I thought about cutting a slot in the socket of the reducer and using a clamp to hold it there, but as you say if it comes unstuck I would have a much bigger problem on my hands than just storing a funny shaped still

Would be nice if it was detachable, might end up getting some stainless couplings??
