Use an easy flange instead to join it that way if a leak forms it is easier to get to.

You should be fine so long as there aren't any big gaps between the copper pieces, the solder will remelt but surface tension will keep it where it is. You'll be able to add an easy flange or reducer no worries.

What gas are you using for heating? I'd suggest only use propane at this point since even though it will take a while to heat up it won't put in so much heat that you'll get all your solder on the ends melted. You'll see some melt and as you move the heat around the solder furtherest will cool a bit and solidify again. As I said above it's not the end of the world if your solder melts but if it is melted and you bump your condenser you could knock a tube lose etc.

still no leaks . all i have to do now is add some 1/2 copper to the outlet end and then a clean up . then make a bird .

Looks awesome. I love the look of the fittings. I know most guys here like things smooth and flat, but i reckon copper looks fantastic with proper fittings on everything.

cleaned up and mounted . not sure i am happy with the mount collar that i made maybe in the future i will cut it off and do a remake ( mort likely brass next time ) but as it is i think it will work ok . probably ready for a maiden run now i think .

Brass is much easier ta work BUT the reason we donot recomend its use is LEAD,there is a hospital over this way that is finnished but has not been open for two years because some idiot did not check specs on brass water fittings,and now they have ta change them all out,new quality sutton tapered thread taps and trefalex cutting compound will help.Why blemish your very good still effort with it,a chain is only as strong as the weakest link.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:

:text-+1: on what hillz said. Worst part is its a kids hospital and they're still stuffing around trying to fix it. Better off sticking with stainless or copper for anything you plan on ingesting :smile:

the collar i made is around the outside of the 2" copper and screwed to the lid on the outside therefor it would not come into contact with anything inside the still . the screws or bolts are from the inside out but are stainless cap heads .

Ah cheers for the explanation, I thought it mounted directly through the lid like a lot of collars do.

No worries mate just had ta be sure,she's is a beauty and something ta be proud of,those lids are pretty thin and being domed would be tricky for any welder ,I have a few myself,did ya have any dramas sorting a seal out or just use a squirt of silicone,it's a pity they didnot make them with a 2inch ferrule on , good luck with your maiden run.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:
