Wizzed up a Liebig today! Building a 2 inch pot still this week. Liebig is 3/4 over 1/2 inch and a full 1300 long! Should be the ducks nuts! Going on a 50 ltr keg. Shes all soft soldered together (lead free) and no leaks. Awesome.

That sure is some nice tidy work. We are really seeing some art coming through in recent builds. It's nice to see a bit of form being thrown in with function. If only I had an artistic bone in my body.

Cheers, Heffers

Cheers fellas, smashed out a bit more today between tasks. Just need to sort out the height and find a couple tri clovers to hook her to the keg, bit of a clean up and BAM! Done like a dinner!Image

Had a win on the weekend with how to heat my boiler up. Long term am going to go electric but short term I'm going to have to use my gas burner and while looking for something to sit the keg on to put the gas burner under my eyes glanced toward my trusty ol homemade potbelly!
Image
Hmmmm? That's looks big enough to eat a keg.
Image
Success! With the top on it fits perfect and the gas burner slides in underneath turning it into a keg oven!

I really like inclined lyne arms for what thay do for improving abv at no effort...nice

Plug: pity head doesn't have a coil as a hybrid then it would be perfect!

What's the deal with the bubble balls I been seeing on pot stills with the bubble plates? What advantage do they give? Do they need a reflux condenser? Are they worth the effort on a 2" pot? I'm after a quality product not quantity.

Not so neat double helix. Fits in 2" like a cock in a sock!

Got 2 washes I'm going to run through it before fitting the coil.

How fast should this thing run for stripping? Just doing the alcohol cleaning run with 8 ltr of goon from the first drips to now (25 mins later) its at 450ml so an easy 850 - 900 ml an hour. Is that too fast?

The general consensus with stripping is to run as fast as your condenser allows

I run my 2" Pot 500mm in height with a regular liebig @ 4400W and then run the water from my 1000L pretty fast to condense everything

From memory I was pulling ~ 4L / hour

Spirit runs are more fiddly depending on what you are trying to achieve

Cheers

Sweet. Up to 40 mins now and it's up to 800 ml. Could prob run it harder. I'll give it a whirl

This is looking rather sexy bloke.

Coil's nice. Don't be surprised if it starts on a spirit run pulling mid 90's abv and hangs for a good while. That's when I usually reduce flow to coil using the ball valve and push flow rate up targeting 80 abv mark and it will belt out.

enjoy!

let us know how it progresses.
