building my first still

Postby stillgotit » Wed Mar 20, 2013 2:18 pm

ok so I Just went down to the shop and got brought 1 meter of 2" copper pipe end cap and a 90 degreee fitting.
my question is, is 1 meter too long for a pot still or will it be fine?

Hope you bought some other size pipe and fittings unless you already have them.

The meter would be a bit overkill for a normal pot still but will be fine you can always cut it down.

For a straight neck usually 500mm is a good length.

What are you using the end cap for?

What Sam said - but given its fresh copper and not scrap I'm sure you'll find a use for any excess.

I'm on my phone but someone will post a link to a build spec for you I'm sure.

Plenty of ways to skin a cat mate, check out the pot stills folder and see which one/s suit what your after. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If using gas, half a metre and a good liebig on a union would keep the business end away from the burner.

If using electric elements, column can be whatever length you desire. half metre column and shotgun would be pretty sweet. ;-)

P.S. Pics r cool. :D
