It's not just methanol we're worried about mate, can you test for acetone etc as well? A sugar wash like rum will produce very little methanol.

Ok so me and a mate had this idea,
You can call me crazy but I think it might work...
I've got a problem that on my stripping runs the gas in the bottle is freezing up and slowing the strip right down from 16l/h to 10l/h
About half way through,
And that also the PC cooling water is heating up with in an hour and I have to switch to tap water, so our idea is
Out of anneled copper 1/2 pipe make 5-6 loops around the gas tank and send the hot PC water around the gass bottle keeping the bottle warm and cooling my cooking water back down...
Thoughts??!!

Bad idea, if the bottle gets to warm the pressure relief valve will let go :handgestures-thumbdown:

Doubt it... I've barley got it opened to run the gass burner flat out... It's a hp oxy cutter reg

And obviously not getting the bottle hot just trying to keep it room temp

Thats your set up telling you she does not like ta be pushed past 10lt/hr in my opinion,I would set ya collection rate at 10lt/hr and see how everything goes ,the passages thru your reg could be freezing up ,not the gas so your copper pipes may have little or no effect on the bottle, the solution there is more likely ta be getting the correct reg for the application.cheers hillzabilly

If you push your bottle hard enough, the bottle and reg will freeze up, no matter what reg you use
I have mates who do line marking and their thermoplastic rig freezes the bottle all the time
Their solution at first was to just swap back and forth between 2 bottles
Then moved onto 2 bottles plumbed into the one line, which then had the regulator in line, so each bottle was running at half of the consumption rate that it usually would

That's the opprion number two is have 2 gass bottles hooked up to the reg so either half the flow out of each one,
Or swap from one to the other
I've got like 6 bottles here any way :)

Yeah go multi bottle, we do that at work when we need to pre-heat large plates for cutting and welding them (think >75mm thick steel plates).

Or just be happy with 10l/hr, why do you need to strip more than 100L of wash in 1 hr?

Then just do alternate nights.
Problem solved.
Surely you cant drink 10L within a week.
If you want to make some to cellar then do one batch of that and a batch of something to drink now like a vodka or neutral to flavour.

Would anyone in Perth like some French oak staves with heavy port staining on them? $$
I got a barrel from our vineyard which had port put in it in 2004 and got bottled about a week ago
I have way more then I'll ever need,
Can cut up to what ever lenght you would like
The port sells for $80 for a 500ml bottle at cellar door

Going well
Gen 1 I wasn't happy with so I spiced the lot and used them for my wedding favours :) everyone got a 50ml bottle to take home.... it wasn't bad just not my taste

Gen 2&3 combined came out good :)
- French oak
- American oak
Both good and very different
- and a bit of each oak - this one was my favourite to bad the 2l I Oaked is gone

Gen 4&5 combined came out very different to 2&3
- filled a 9 litre barrel came out with a vanilla, caramel and a slight cinnamon taste
- and a few assorted oak tests with the rest

Any way long story short at the wedding between 120 people they managed to knock off 10L of rum hahaha
And it was well enjoyed by everyone.... even an uncle who refused to touch it cause it's "home brew" which I have told him many times I get it methanol tested had a glass and he said it was very good :)

I served
American oak
French oak
The barrel rum
And my spiced
Took 17L their only 7 came back haha
