Tried the whole upload straight to the forum thing but just to hard with the resizing , limitations etc etc .

I just started another photobucket acc with a bogus email address , no problem (perhaps :-B )

Probably try the same thing with youtube .

Hi

Ive been very exitedly reading my alch metre as saying 96%

Do I assume that its actually 95.57 % given this from the glossary ?

AZEOTROPE: a mixture of two or more liquids in such a way that its components cannot be altered by distillation at a given pressure. At atmospheric pressure, ethanol and water form an azeotrope at 95.57%(by weight), higher percentages of ethanol can be obtained through vacuum distillation, adding a material separation agent or through molecular sieving.

Cheers

Assuming you have also temperature-corrected the reading, yes :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Your alcometer will be calibrated to 20°c, probably. If your spirit is hotter or colder your alcometer will be inaccurate.

Yep, unless you paid a shitload for your alcometer and have a certified calibration certificate with it then it probably isn't accurate to anywhere near 0.1% :teasing-tease:

Yeh nah , came with the settup 2nd hand so probably not top shelf . And there is the whole meniscus curve to allow for too , but I guess if its showing somewhere over 95 I'm happy to settle for that especially as the best I could get pre extension was about 83%.
Looking at 3 lt of odor less tasteless neutral waiting for staves , pretty good feeling when its from something you built yourself .
