Pimped my Keggo.

Postby shortcut » Fri Nov 16, 2018 9:55 am

Brought my still in to work today to run it. Ended up replacing the garden hose with brass water fittings. Now the tap is in a better spot too. Knocked up a copper table top aswell.
It didn't cost anything, in fact i got paid to do it. ;-)
Got plans to sort out some better keg insulation after lunch. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yoga mat insulation. $11. I'll see how it handles the heat.

Probably fine if it doesn't contact the metal. Probably. Maybe.

Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

100°c is not going to set anything on fire.
Pallet wrap actually contracts when heated, the stuff I've used anyway.
Such a pity i don't work in the factory i used to, had shelves and shelves of useful odds 'n' sods, even had copper mesh.

Just an update on the yoga mat and pallet wrap insulation.
Did a spirit run this morning and it held up really well. There was no plastic melting smell or any visible sign of distortion.
Heat up time went from 65min to 48 min.
Not as quick as I was hoping but ok for $11.
I’ll see how long it lasts. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Your spot on hillzabilly, I regret making one continuous cooling loop. I’ll have to bring it back to work and make seperate rc and pc cooling lines with seperate taps. I thought I could just take out the packing for pot stillin and still run rc cooling.

Yoga mat insulation still going strong. Shows no signs of degrading. Have run the still 9 or 10 times with it on. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
