Temperature probe placement

On a VM style still where the product condenser coil is placed above the tee to the product condenser where would be the ideal placement of a temperature probe? Make sense? Thanks

Depends what temp you are trying to see.

Most important place to put it would be on the boiler.

You can't run a still by temperature, but it is nice to know how long till vapour will start to generate.

Temp of vapour before the PC can be used to determine abv.

If you want one for vapour temp between main body and pc would work out of falling reflux and in vapour.. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

On a vm the product condenser goes after the tee the condeser above the tee is a reflux condenser , prob just a typo :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Bluc what I was trying to picture and explain was the still I saw on a YouTube video, Stillit. Now I know it’s called a CCVM still and that’s the direction I’m heading in. That’s where I was wondering where a good place would to for a thermometer for checking vapor temperature. I’ll have one on the keg also. I know they aren’t necessary but I like to visually see everything that’s happening.

Hey Walker
I have done tho odd one of these, and just a couple of things I have found
Most people use a T piece at the takeoff - personally I like to use a cross piece, it puts a bit of extra volume at the takeoff point and you can mount a thermometer horizontally (on the opposite side of the cross to the takeoff)
Also I have found it invaluable to have a thermometer exactly half way up the column - you can see the rise in temp/ tails coming
