What to do with 2m of 2" Copper pipe and very limited tools.

Postby mitcho89 » Thu Jul 26, 2012 5:14 pm

Hi guys,

I've been looking to get somthing going regarding my own condenser and so I just got myself some 2" copper, I only asked for one but i got two meters by accident!! Now I'm just trying to work out the best way to go about it. Seeing as though I'm just starting off constructing, I have very few tools but am happy to get a brutane torch and some solder and have a track. For a beginner,

Would a Slant plate Boka or a Double Reduced Boka be more suitable? With a column of over 1.5m high, what sort of quality+rate could I expect? Anything over 93% at 800+mls an hour I'd be happy!

Thanks and kind regards,

Mitch.

Both the slant plate and DR bok are extremely simple, but for a first I'd go the slant plate route if I were you.

They're a bit cheaper, parts wise & less time consuming to build :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah that's what I was thinking mate. Only thing is I don't know where to get copper sheeting from the make the slant disks after many hours of reading and looking. Could it be nothing more than a hammered out flat piece of tube?

IMHO you'd be better off doing the double reducer model, it's just easier to get everything plumb for a novice builder, the design you show is very similar but just a tad more fiddly to build.

Use this one if you want something nicer looking than the slant plate job.
