Bottom of the keg going to install a ball valve just trying to figure best way to do it using existing hole. Gonna put 3 sockets and some big ass bolts as legs. Might get a ss 3/4" threaded elbow bend and have it tigged to a ss end cap. Pretty expensive solutuion but I gotta send the keg to have the leg sockets tig welded anyway.

Heres the first lot of copper had to order alot of stuff. Got a 10" jacket for my condenser looking at it it looks small...

My accountant is going to love my new hobby.

Anyone know if there is such thing as an 80mm 40mm 80mm copper tee, and where I get one?

Found the part.

On another note what do people think about offset head?
Parts are pretty much the same, I guess the main thing is there a performance benefit or is this a case of difference for difference sakes.

New Bitmap Image - Copy.jpg
Hi guys in my last post I made mention of a re design and here it is. An offset design, I have tried to included every piece that I would need.

I am going to use a 1" of 3/4" Liebig and im concerned with all the reductions I am going through on my way to the liebig

1.5" Tee ==> 1" Gate Valve==> 3/4" Liebig by the time we get to the liebig I have halfed the pipe width. Is this too aggressive? I can source the larger parts its just its cost is not proportional!!.

That looks really good mate and will work well, pretty expensive with all the fittings but I do like it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Voo I dont know a lot about reflux stills , but I think a 1 over 3/4 lieghburg would be over kill on a on a still of this type,
3/4 over 1/2 should be more than adequate.

Very cool looking design. Im building an offset LM still. Those 3" fittings are bloody expensive - i just bought some for my build. Dont know why they dont make a reducer that slides over the 3" to avoid the 3" coupling? Thats how they screw ya :D

Thanks for your feedback guys, its actually 1" over 1/2". I had a brain fart. It hasnt been cheap mcstill and its not gonna get any cheaper im $100's from the finish line.

Im looking at different valves one thing has me concerned is the take off to liebig reducers. It doesn't make sense in my head that I would go to the expense of using a 1.5 inch Tee to have it instantly reduced to 1", I understand that the vapour accelerate as it goes through the squeeze. Is it the vapour path to the condenser which is important? Is so why not have a 1/2" Take off and save some good coin. I have found a Gate valve in 1.5" ss316 for $50.00 shipped which I think its pretty awesome but I don't seem to be able to find 1.5" compression fitting. Has anyone built something similiar and how/what did they decide.

I guess what it all boils down to is would there is be reduced production by going from the 1.5" tee straight down to 3/4" and keeping that the entire way to the end?

My whole design has stalled on a few things, im trying to find the right reading material but its a hard slog as most people seem to be working in 2" and dont need to make these choices. I have gone 3" to increase production speed and dont want make choices which will limit that.

Your pretty much answering your own questions mate, keep the take off valve as large as you can.

I've built 3" VM's and wouldnt go any smaller than a 1" gate valve & have used as large as 2".
