Reflux still design and discussion

Fractionating still

Postby ilanrl » Tue Nov 27, 2012 1:50 pm

Hi ya all

Just completing my vm still.

Have built is so that all condensate from reflux condensor can be drawn off for stripping purposes.

So when in strip mode it's would act like a fractionating still without reflux. I have a 1 meter packed column.

Have looked at the complete distiller. Just wondering what the best way to operate it would be and whether I could use it for flavoured spirits or would have to remove the packing and run it as a tall pot still.

Anyone have experience running fractionating stills without reflux. Not much in the way of instructions for running them.

Will post photos once it's finished and I've ironed out a few bugs. :teasing-tease:

Let's just say it has some novel design elements! :ugeek:
