Connecting the Gate Valve to a VM

Postby karrotbear » Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:11 am

Hello all,

I have recently bought some 1" SS half nipples with the intention of soft soldering them to a piece of copper tube in order to screw into the gate valve. However is there an easier way to do this?

I figured out that the "SS" wasn't really SS because they started rusting like crazy after the soldering. But I don't want to solder the copper pipe straight into the female socket of the Gate Valve (mainly because it'll start rusting too, because I did that with a ballvalve for my draining purposes, and it's rusting too), so I was wondering how do you guys do it?

Here's some pics of what I mean:

The outer dimensions of the nipple didnt match any of the unions I could find, so I had to cut a piece of copper and bend it to fit inside, still not a perfect fit though
