Reflux centering ring

Postby bac206 » Tue Jun 18, 2013 12:49 pm

Hi all. I've been brewing for approx 2 years and was doing the store bought way because of my own ignorance of a site like this existing :violence-smack: . In last week I've learnt heaps and am now starting to implement changes for better (I hope). Final batch ever of turbo sitting in fermenters only because my crappy keg king element shit itself at worst possible time. Anyways
I've heard of people having a centering ring on their reflux head. Does anyone use these and are they worthwhile?
Thanks heaps
If it helps I'm a 2inch Keggomax CM on 50l boiler connected by tri clover with now newly installed copper mesh and saddles

Hi bac and welcome. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Centering rings? Probably not a huge benefit on a 2" column mate. Not a well-packed one anyways..

How long is your column?

Hi. Sorry forgot to add that. It's 700mm (2"3.5 inches) considering making extension for it. I'm pretty crap at any sort of metal work but willing to learn via trying it out
Thanks

Reflux centering ring

Like cam said. I don't think a centering ring will make much, if any, difference to how your still runs. Your copper mesh should have good contact with the walls of your column and the random nature of the mesh will distribute it will.

Thanks gents. I might concentrate my efforts on building pot still to save me pulling out column packing instead. Cheers :handgestures-thumbupleft:
