Yeah Bushy. Built them all myself. I figured if I can fix planes, I can build stills???? Not a lot of similarities but whatever. Couldn't have done it without the forum though. An incredible amount of information on here.
Hopefully the computer doesn't have a hissyfit tonight.
Ran GG the other week with an Italian spiral burner and a standard LP reg and 50L of TPW. Was pulling 8.5L an hour with no sign of struggling. Got the HP reg now and 100L of TPW just about ready so am hoping for high teens, especially from Mr Ed with his long arse nose. GG's 50L run took 40mins to boil and 2 hours to finish and I got 10 litres running from 60-20%.
Ran 'Florance' on Sunday with 30L of shit wine I got off the sister from her wedding about 10 years ago. Hadn't insulated the column so found it hard to keep the temp stable. But with a 20min boil time and a total run time of about 3 hours I was stoked. Got the temp sitting at around 75-77 for half an hour then started collecting the fores slowly. Shut the gate to stabilise for a bit then ran through heads hearts and tails. Got 90-93% the whole way through until the temp rose to 80 and I pulled the pin. For a first run I was happy with how easy it was to work. Got some insulation now and some tap fixings to solder on and I'll have 40L of TPW low wines to run between her legs next time.
Did my cuts on the wine run yesterday and got 7 bottles of 40% neutral from about 4L. Thought I wouldn't be able to determine the cuts, but wow. You definitely can.
Sampling some now mixed us as 'Glenfiddich' from the whisky profile kit. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Go blues.
