I still haven’t got around to trying this, real life just keeps getting in the way :angry-banghead:
And I’m still waiting on a member sending me some promised root botanicals (cough Bryan cough)

Ok as promised the package is in the mail but as I was running late I missed the postman at the Kanmantoo shop :angry-banghead: so it won't be on it's way until tomorra arvo.

Now what is coming you may ask :scared-eek: :scared-eek: :scared-eek:

150 grams of Licorice root fully dried and cut into 20-30mm lengths so they can be easily fed into a corona mill.

25 grams of dried Red Manzano Chilli ( my last stock but got a new chilli tree ready to sprout a new batch)

50 grams of Orris Root ground up so osme powder and very small lumps.

My mate reckons you should get the package Friday or Saturday as I did send a 500 gram express satchel.

The most important part mate is have fun making your gin with those herbs.....

Cheers Bryan

Finally got around to setting this up for a small run tomorrow.
The new gin pot is ready to run.
I slightly modded what im doing:
2 lt of 45%

25 grams Juniper
6 grams Coriander
2.5 grams Cassia
2 grams Orris Root
2.5 grams Lemon Myrtle

Crush berries.
Soak for 24 hours
Water down to 30%
Run through pot still, botanicals in boiler

From Odin's HD thread:
- Discard the first 20 mls, collect the next 800 mls;
- You will end up with 800 mls at around 70 to 80%;
- Dilute to 45%;
- Give it up to 5 weeks rest in a glass demi-john ??? no way this will last 5 weeks 8-} 8-}

Eh Stig hold off for a day or 2 until my package gets there so you add a couple of grams of the red manzano dried chilli, it will make your first gin run that much better with added notes of the chilli flesh

Cheers Bryan

Looks the goods Stig. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the result.

If you wait the 5 weeks it will be much better. You should find that in the first few days it will be very forward and will highlight the lemon myrtle - nice with tonic. After about 3 weeks you'll start to taste the cassia in the back end. Then after 5 weeks the flavours will marry up nicely - good with soda or just a sipper.

Looks to me like I could easily add a 25 litre boiler to my collection of bits and I would have me a small pot still to experiment with lol.

That better go on the list after the bubbler lol
