And yes the replies weren’t the most friendly.

I know no ones trying to be nasty, it’s really hard convey tone in text but I’m sure all replies were made with only concern for safety, nobody wants to see a still fire turn into a house fire that won’t be covered by insurance or worse.

You could also use one ta keep an eye on ferment temps,I noticed one at the HBS that floats in the wash and sends temp and the specific gravity to ya phone or tablet ,had me thinkin ifn it was a good idear or not but the $200 price tag had me gagging.cheers hillzabilly :D

My Webber version works 20m+ in real world use. When the Webber’s going with a roast on the back deck, I can be out front gardening and not loose signal, so the whole house is between the transmitter & my phone. The Matador should be much the same. I’ve found the battery in mine lasts approximately 30hrs of use, & I know when it needs changing when I need to be standing within a couple of steps to pickup signal. Always keep a spare handy, then no swearing is nessesary if your part way through a cook. I’m definitely going to be using min for monitoring wash temps for pitching yeast and maybe monitoring intermittent progress of wash temp.
