The health benefits of cuts.

Postby Plumby » Wed Apr 11, 2018 5:31 pm

6 months ago I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. At the time Dr sent me for heaps of blood tests too see if I had any other issues, pretty much tested me for everything but a brain.
The results were all perfect, no kidney or liver damage, no thyroid problems, blood pressure was in the acceptable range for a type 1 diabetic.
Monday just gone ( 6 months later ) I went for more blood tests too see if anything had changed. Today I had a follow up appointment with a diabetes specialist who reviewed the results, only difference was my cholesterol was up by one point.
He asked a few generic questions like, how's things been going? What is your attitude to your disease? Then what do you do for work? I said " I'm a concreter, doing heavy construction work "
Do you drink he asked. I said " yes I do, I have a few every night, probably go through 2 bottles a week "
He couldn't believe it, my kidney and liver function tests were both in the acceptable range, only thing I can put it down to is I haven't brought spirits since getting into this hobby, and since joining this sight I've been doing cuts.
Sorry for the long winded story, believe me its the short version.

Makes my blood sugar level go down a bit, something to do with our liver processing alcohol above anything else as its a poison so the body wants to get rid of it fast, as a result processing food takes longer, beer makes it go up as it has unfermented sugar in it. If I drink beer I drink Tooheys Extra Dry as its low carb but still full strength.
Its not the end of the world, as a result I have changed my diet considerably and I've lost nearly 20kg so far.
Downside is I can't drink coffee anymore, it tastes like shit with splenda/equal :puke-huge:

Learn to drink your coffee without sweeteners mate. Once you're used to it you'll never go back.
Like mixing bourbon and soda water instead of cola.

Sorry for your health bro. My Father in law has type 1 diabetes and loves Captn Morgans spiced rum.

I send him one of my (f..cked up) home made spiced rums as I was going to redistill it with my collection of (disappointing) low wines and perhaps some more fermented molasses if I can be arsed (seeing as the molasses turned out to be garbage) - doesn't sound like I'm a nice guy, but he asked for a bottle...

Anyhoo, I was looking into dietary things and stuff because I every time i visit the Dr.. the ask me "How come you're not diabetic?" Good on ya! :teasing-nutkick: so back to dietary stuff, I came across 'Bullet-proof coffee' and love it!

Look it up, and try it! Just with the coffee you have at home and a few other ingredients you can get form your local grocer. MUST use a blander of sorts! Otherwise it doesn't taste any good....

Looked into it and tried a few of the recipes mate and no offence but I'd rather shoot myself in the dick than drink another cup of that shit :puke-huge: :puke-huge: :puke-huge:

Cutting is the single most important aspect of securing your ongoing health... I am a diabetic and have a brain tumour, I only drink my own spirits and when making vodka we burn 57% Of our spirit...we do not reprocess any of the heads or tails...but by doing that we have achieved a product which we have sold to local hospitals as an antidote to methanol poisoning. And an admirable reputation ( see Luke Mcarthys Australian Spirits Guide ).... Pure ethanol watered to 40% is all I drink now except for special nights or drinks with mates. I consider myself lucky to be diagnosed as early as i was...it forced me to reassess my cutting and led me to a quality of product that has created a demand which we have built a business on... and...well I am still here, and don't intend dying anytime soon.

Try sparkling mineral water it taste better than soda water, and its not that expensive if you get the coles brand. It is gassy but not as bad as soda. I have replaced coke for it (I have to have bubbles in my drink lol). As I have just been diagnosed with diabetes as well.

:text-+1: on the mineral water, I’ve switched from soda to mineral, but add a splash of dry ginger ale too, only because my whiskey never lasts long enough to be properly aged :laughing-rolling: that’s why I’d say my liver is perfectly preserved too :laughing-rolling: :obscene-drinkingdrunk:

That sounds like a good idea, I will have to give it a try.

Glad you posted this as I was wondering of the effects on the liver.
Been drinking my own spirits for a decade now and no deterioration of the liver found at the last visit to the doc.
As for coffee, I can't give it up.
But
Ground coffee beans, not that instant crap.
Using a good grade of coffee you can do without sugar with ease.
Kicked the sugar habit years ago.
As for eating habits, try palio for a few months to reduce weight and then slowly reintroduce some of the carbs.
Worked for me, lost 19kg and then put 5 back on. :)) .
All the best with coping with type 1.
