Side effects of a few drinks

Postby Tin chucker » Tue Oct 16, 2018 7:10 am

My wife and I went to the local pub to reward us for a hard Saturday’s work on the house. Had a great time. Morning came fast. I’ve experienced a new symptom of drinking in the past year or so . Mung mouth. My mouth dries up. Not a lick of went in it all night long after drinking store bought. This was never a problem before a year or 2 ago. I had thought it was the oak aged stuff. But Saturday was a beer day and it happened. Is there an explanation ? Anyone have any odd reactions?

I’d say you’re just dehydrated, drink more water (blasphemy I know)

Could be an allergic reaction if you ate something or the beer if they cleaned the beer lines that can contaminate .

Fact 1: Alcohol acts as a diuretic (a substance that increases urine output)

Fact 2: For every standard drink you consume (10 mg of pure alcohol) you are likely to urinate 100 mL more than you drink, leading to dehydration

Fact 3: Headache, dry mouth, fatigue and dizziness are symptoms of dehydration

Sound like a hangover? Couple that with poorly cut spirits and you will have an even bigger headache and nausea

Getting the same no matter how much water I drink. Think it's from falling into deep sleep and breathing through the mouth... :-B

I like the deep sleep idea. The wife has been telling me that I snore for about the same time , maybe just getting old .i had used oak chips in my rum and that rum is what made me notice the dry mouth. So I stopped oaking , I rarely tie one on at the pub ,2 pints max. We have hard drinking and driving laws here . not until Saturday that I experienced the dry mouth from a bunch of pints. I have been drinking my own vodka for most of this year with grapefruit and cranberry juice. We drink plenty of it. It’s rare to be hung over from that stuff and I’ve always drank water between drinks and before bed
I don’t think it’s was dehydration though it’s possible. Maybe it’s metabolic, our bodies slow down as we get old . I’ll test that as I’m 47now and it’s time to get into shape 1 more time before I accept old age. Every 5years I get into shape and I think this time will be very hard .

Yea I wake in middle of night mouth is like a desert. Can't even swallow. Within couple secs of waking up it's back to normal. Only started about year ago for me to does not always happen. Have not asked doc but pretty sure it's from sleeping/snoring with mouth open..

I would agree snoring doesn’t help the cotton mouth

I’ve been told I can strip the paint off the ceiling with my snoring and often wake up with a dry mouth too. But I also never drink enough water.
