Lest We Forget

"The sacrifice of the few, the fallen, for the benefit of the many"

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.

Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

I only found out a few months ago that my dads dad was a POW - he passed away nearly 20 years ago now...it gave the dawn service a different meaning this year...

We had an awesome turn out this year up here.

The sacrifice and has been given and is still be given will never be forgotten, lest we forget

Went down to dawn service on the Newcastle foreshore this morning, was great to see the thousands in appreciation and commemoration. Would be the best ANZAC day service I've seen bar the couple I had in Afghanistan. Was especially great to see many non-military people bringing their children along to carry on the memory. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

RIP to all the boys, we will remember you.

Lest we forget.

Even tho my old man was British and he served in WW2 and Korea with the royal marines he marched every ANZAC day and enjoyed a few schooners with his mates. I remember him walking out early in the morning looking all smart with his medals and getting home looking he had a great time lol
Miss ya dad x

Today was a great emotional day from dawn service to a quiet beer. And its so good that the crowds are getting bigger and the kids

ANZAC's will live on forever
