There's not enough information there on it's operation for me to be able to tell if it's cooling, liquid or vapour managed. But how the hell do they do it for that price?
I assume that includes the boiler? How can they ship any where in Aus for $30? It must cost that much in packaging to prevent damage....... :?

hello divey, we have the same still viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1501&p=19533#p19533
I too was impressed with the quality for the price and more than a little confused by the instructions..
I am still learning to drive it... but the more i play with it the more sure I am that it is a variation of a Bokakob therefore a LM still compare it to http://distillapedia.org/index.php?title=Bokakob
I would have no hesitation in recommending it over a T500 or any other off the shelf HBS still.
But I dont think posting the instructions on a public forum would be fair to Alexsandr as he also sells the plans and DVDs....
i would recommend doing a cleaning run if you havent used it yet as my one spat out a fair bit of flux and swarf on its cleaning run.
I am thinking of insulating the column.
Alex did say he gives full after sale support so email him if you got any questions. I have his email I will PM it to you if you want it.
alex has plenty of youtube videos that make more sense than the instructions.
and hey @ mcstill and punkin-and Frank.... if the Tards with the Airstills get their own subforum surely now theres 2 alex 25 still owners that means we get a subforum too?

I stumbled across this guy's YouTube videos a little while back. As far as this hack can tell, he knows what he's doing. I mean, who ever thought of making a continuous distillation still for the home brewer. And he sells them at a very reasonable price.

When I first noticed that his name was Alex, I thought he might be the legendary Alex Bokakob, designer of the bokakob still. But I was wrong.

Mate firstly I AINT anything to do with the moderation of this forum and Tards is not my specialty either (although thanx for the vote of confidence :laughing-rolling: )
secondly, if you choose to reread the relevant thread about the Airstill forum vote and its inception, you may get a clearer understanding of my ACTUAL opinion on such matters concerning subcategories of stills (for the record, of course  )
Lastly, why not???? I mean the precedent has been set now and I am all for democratic inclusion....

I was going to post the operating instructions, however, seeing as the word file had photographs included it became too difficult for an old fart like me so I gave up.

We did a run yesterday of a wash that was 6.25 kg's of dextrose and Turbo yeast. As this still is my friends and I'm basically a brewer, I don't have the knowledge of all the working parts. Anyway, we removed the tube with all the coils of stainless in side and ran the wash and we gathered (is that the right word) 6 liters of 50% spirit. It was interesting that my friend said the run off should be 50% and it was spot on. We then rinsed out the boiler, and retuned the 50% spirit with a few liters of filtered water. We then returned that tube with all the 'bits' in it a fired up the macine once again, we then began measuring the speed of the run off until we had it running at 30mls in one minute. The first 300 mls topped up by metho bottle. Bloody amazing 'cause that's what it smelled like. The next 150 mls we reserved and then we started keeping the good gear which measured 93% spirit. We kept measuring the strength of the run off and when it started to 'drop off' we stopped the process. The last 150 mls did not smell quite as good as the middle of the process. And we reserved the final 150 ml.

My friend was thoroughly pleased with the performance of his new Alex 25 still as it performed exactly how it was meant to perform.

Anyway, it's great to see another member will one of these stills and I'm sure our personal messages will get a fair bit of use.

On a finisher, my friend had some little sachets of Whiskey and Bourbon. We created some whiskey and Bourbon with these and to my surprise they tasted good and were very acceptable.
