Postby Frank » Wed Apr 27, 2011 10:23 pm

Hi all forum folk, I was wondering if anyone had experience with home-scale distillation of essential oils (ie plant based oils iike tea-tree, lavender etc) and, if so, what advice can you give or information sites can you recommend please.

#1 don't drink it !!!

never tried but i used to have heaps of roses and always wanted to try it
i saw a doco on doing Lavander oil ages ago, they used wild growing stuff and a big still made from some 44Gallon drums, looked like a pot still from memory.

So....apparently noone using this forum whom chooses to answer any of these (random) posts actually has considered or tried using their 'virtual' apparatus for essential oil distillation or can be bothered????. Fair enough I suppose (always ;) ) , but surely it was worth the question ..... 8-)

I've done rose petals in my little glass still, but it's a water distillation for rosewater not an essential oil.

As suggested, google. That's what i did for the roses info, there is info out there but as can be seen, most of us use our equipment for the distillation of water.

Personally i'm happy if i can get my dirty tap water down to at least 4% pure water ;) 8-)
