Yer I think the difference between a 10" & 12" was quite xtreme! Or was that obscene...?!?! When MK2 boiler happens, I will revisit it...

I was at mt Gravatt flea market today and picked up a copper tube for 30 bucks, its 6" diameter and 1.8 meters long. Not sure if that's a bargain and have not got a use for it yet, but I bought it anyways
I reckon it's got to be worth more even as scrap metal :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Just as scrap it's probably worth anywhere between $5-$9 a kilo depending where u take it.

Such an act would be criminal though :violence-stickwhack:

Looks like you have to make a 6" bubbler for your flash copper boiler, mate :happy-partydance:

That's a good thought, once I finally get my bloody rig and I get a bit of experience under my belt.
I had no idea how much of a bargain I really gone, no wonder he told me to go to hell when I offered him 10 bucks.
My missus had a clothing stall at the other end of show ground so I went back at closing time and he parted with it for 30, he had 60 on it originally :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Think you mean CM bluc.

Even then, for the volume you'll need as a doubler it won't hold enough volume. Or it will but riser will be over a metre tall, and vapour will struggle to overcome height. General rule is 1/3 to 1/2 boiler volume for a traditional style thumper.

CR you should use the 6" for plate sections :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Bargain, assuming standard wall thickness, that'd probably be about 24kg of copper....so around $240 at the scrappy.

Someone in Brisbane might be able to pickup some cheap stainless here (but I think you've got to take the rack too)

Just went and picked up a big grape/fruit press
Price? $0
I felt sorry for the poor old bloke. He's an old Italian guy, can't make wine anymore coz he's too old and buggered, and all his relos that he used to do it with have passed away.
Tried to offer him some $$$ for it but he wouldn't take a cent. So I said I'd drop him off a little treat (grappa) when I had some ready.

It's a bit of a beast. He reckoned you could do 20 boxes of grapes in one go if you keep adding as you press
