Doors on.
The roof is ventilated at the ridge cap so shouldn’t get too hot. Can’t be any hotter than the old shed.

While waiting for my mechanic mate to come around this arvo got sick of looking at those 2 kegs (80 and a 50 litre) so went and grabbed my dressmakers tape and wrapped it around the 50 litre nice and tight and got the measurement then onto my old calculator and divided the result by pi and the 50 litre keg is 363mm diameter. Marked centre on the side of keg and using a compass marked out the diameter. In the morning I'll use my 4" angle grinder and cut out the hole. Then put the 50 litre in supported to markout the join.

Decided to setup my minime pot still and finally test out the new PC and pump my attempt at putting 3/8 plastic hose on a 1/2 barb failed as one leaked. O'well in the morning I'll get some right barb fittings and got a apple cider low wines to do a spirit run.

Cheers Bryan

I am a little perplexed tonight, i just finished the the last of my spirit run, ran it over 2 days.

I stripped about 160L of FFV, took me 4 runs then put 40L of 37% low wines in the still.

I am happy with result, i have 17L @ 40% and about 11L @65% ready for some testing with oak chips or such.

I am just not sure i like the flavour right now, when i did FFV in the past i just did one spirit run and even though my still produces @ about 90% it retained some nice flavour, but with doing the strip run then spirit run that flavour is gone.

My better half like the new spirit rather than the old one, i hope she is feeling thirsty.

Re running some rum I wad given a small ex port barrel added 8l rum but after 3 months was awful had off wine or off water nasty taste. Re running slow coming over at 92 seems to work to remove unwanted flavour but tastes like an oaked rum while being white win win..

First gen was all mollasses.. fermented no probs. Second gen was too but it got stuck at 1.080 ish. Adjusted ph and stuffed around with it for quite a while to no avail. So i stripped it.
Thought i would try putting it back in fermenter with some sugar and try it again.. adjusted ph and got it going alright, wasnt fermenting as quick as normal though. Once again it stalled at 1.080
Anway, got "some" low wines to run and ill chuck in some feints from my pot stillin days and hopefully get something decent.
The low wines actually smell quite good in the demi.
Oh, and i used bakers yeast.
