I wonder how that Angel stuff would go with molasses ?

They have enzymes for hydrolysing unfermentable sugars in molasses but would it have the right ones.

It’s why I asked the question, since a lot of people have been having issues with rum wash’s

Running my rum through tonight. In the boiler there is 29ltrs of wash, 7.5ltrs of low wines, 4 ltrs of feints from my pot stillin days and 6 ltrs from my dunder pit.
So in the light of all that my fingers are crossed something good comes from it.
Just to add a bit more to the mix, i dropped from 4 plates to 3 for this run to see if i can get a bit more ruminess to come through.
Off the still it smells alright, there is a very interesting smell behind the rum... dunder pit perhaps..

Please don’t say that. Looks like I won’t be making rum for a while.

You mean the pot comment les? Dont be disheartened mate, pot rum is great when aged, just very manky when young.

Well on Fridays I knock off work at 12 for the 38 hour week and playing in my shed this arvo thought about running that 3rd generation of my all grain ferment about 2pm. Had to pickup my daughter at 3pm so in went my 1/2 siphon with the 30 micron SS filter I made to keep the solids out of the boiler charge. Had to re-plumb my luxford burner too and about 5 to 3 I did the dreaded thing of touching the siphon hose. O'well got atleast 40 litres in the boiler and with whats left in the fermenter I'll siphon out in the morning and strip in my pot still and should get enough low wines out of couple of strips to do a spirit run using the pot. It will be interesting to see the difference between 4 plates and the potstill after aging.

Of course now with everything I put down to age I also put down a moccona jar of the same and then I can pinch a dram off them and see how they are going. With my wine thief as it's only a 10ml one it's great for that dram with a point or 2 of water added to the aged spirit.

Put the luxford burner on at 3.30pm and should have bubbles within the hour.

Good start to the weekend too.....

Cheers Bryan

Now the fun begins gutting the inside so i can put some insulation in and some plaster on the walls and ceiling.
Sure will beat working out on the veranda on those cold nights when its done. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Nice!! I have to use my garage that gets unbearably hot when distilling due to propane. I can't wait to switch to electric so I can still in my laundry room.

Today I'm stripping #3 of 4 Sundae chocolate bourbon washes to fill a barrel.

Thanks beerswimmer. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
I started in my laundry with my pot still, but my bubbler is a bit big for the size area.
I did have a couple issues with fittings and pressurized water and a puddle on the floor that didn't make the mrs real happy.

You’ll need to speak to your wife Dan. My coach lets me run the toys in the family room. Explain to her that ventilation is good, lighting would be conducive to the hobby and the mandatory safety equipment is close by. A bit of water doesn’t hurt anything. :teasing-tease: :teasing-tease: :handgestures-thumbupleft:
