But about 8L of product in I'm starting to worry I didn't put enough and i don't want to waste the alcohol by not being able to get it all out.

Learning curve i guess. 8L and still 82%

was it wash or low wines what abv went into boiler? If you put in 40% and its coming out at 82 bout half original volume will remain..

Yeah it was low wines. I'm keeping a close eye on it. Have gotten about 15L and still making about 75% but it's starting to go tailsey. Could that be possible? That'd be alot of tails to come out of it.

I used to only keep 70÷76 as hearts on pot runs but my numbers are irrelevant on a different setup. It will sit high then drop fast over small amount, bubbler even faster drop. Just because its coming out spout at 70 dont mean the wash in boiler is still high proof or lots good alcohol..

Thanks bluc, I'm at the point where I can't do it anymore. I'm gonna run the rest off and put through with my next neutral. I don't think I'll do such a big spirit run again. :handgestures-thumbdown:

whats the run? Rum doesnt turn into neutral everything else does what was final abv. Below 68-70 is likely tails..

Spirit run of Knockoff Grain whiskey. Tomorrow will be the test but I have about 2.5L or so of heads. 10L of hearts or so and 2L of tails before I gave up because I have to make lasagna. Been a huge day and I'm exhausted

Yep potstillin takes some time for sure
Got mine down to 3-4x 40-45l strips - stripping down to an average of 40% (under 10% at the end of the strip) 1.5 -2 hours each depending and then a 10 hour spirit run to produce 20l of cuts - keeping an average of 10l or so of 73-74%. I really liked the last all feints run I did - as you can see I cut pretty hard so there's plenty to gain by doing it

Pretty identical to how I did this batch. Will definitely be getting this bubbler under way sooner rather than later now.

Wow! I haven't done a sugar based run in a long time, the yield from this is crazy! It's easily 25% higher than my AGs.

Yep, sugar will do that. Higher yield but lower quality spirit. you will taste the difference.

Had some new botanicals turn up today, so I put on 3 x 1L experimental maceration batches of gin. Going to distill them "on the herbs" tomorrow night.

Also working on a new coffee liqueur - this one is running neutral diluted to 50% and running it through a cold brew coffee thingo. Seems to extract more coffee flavour than using cold water.

Running through my first AG "green malt" ferment. Can certainly smell the grassy smell off the still, has a sort of caramel smell to it also.

Well not still related but now in for warm nights as I just brought over a ute load of 100 year old redgum fence posts, there's still a huge one left out the back and noway am I going to try and lift onto the back of the ute so I'll take my tractor and trailer over.

Got that 6" ferrule :happy-partydance: and this weekend off to find a decent mig welder as for the amount of welding to be done using SS wire and a mig will give a good result.

Cheers Bryan
