Your fine to add it now, just don't spike your temp too far with hot sugar

Thanks for that. Didn’t have any malted barley at the moment. I’ll top her up tomorrow

Well working nightshift tonight in the cold and wet weather so today setup my bubbler for doing that single malt wash after I have snooze after work, fixed up my luxford burner and man does it pump out the heat on 40psi :))

Received 2 new char #3 oak barrels, dumped & rinsed and re-filled and assembled the still, stripped 25 gallons of cracked corn wash, dumped 100lbs of spent and squeezed oats and cracked corn, re-filled 2 propane tanks, cleaned the fermenters, got the still taken down and put away, got a shipping notice that my barley will be here on Friday, re-organized and tidied up the garage, took the dogs on an 8 mile walk, and ordered more Angel yeast. I also got in a killer workout this morning before I started! A GREAT quarantine day!

Tomorrow I just need to dump the boiler and thumper and rinse and put them away :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I put down about 50lt of FFV today, it's a little more work with cooking the wheat and adding the extra vitamins and stuff but if it taste anything like the last one i will be happy.

I did my first ever TPW a couple weeks back, it's sitting in a demi at 40%, i have to say i wasn't to keen on the taste when i cut it, i really have to do a side by side comparison.

I started keeping a 200ml jar at 40% from each run so i can go back and compare them.

Put 3 x 22L slightly modified Weetbix/Allbran washes down on Friday. I cut the Allbran in half and replaced with the same volume of Cornflakes. Weetbix stayed the same. Fermented @ 28°C and it was quick and dry within 3 days to 0.992.

Stripped the first 2 batches this arvo and goodness me, this stuff smelled nice! I'm not a bourbon guy at all, but the little bit of corn added a little something which should taste pretty good once the spirit run is done and put on a bit of oak.

Put down some Macrum today. After years of neutrals I've finally come to the dark side :happy-partydance:
Stripped column down and put in citric acid bath, ready for a cleaning run tomorrow.

So today I am going to run 120L of bourbon mash just into my first batch now that I’m stripping.
Been very happy with the outcome of my still. I stripped down 160 of black strap rum The last couple days
And got 30L at 65% going into a stainless keg for aging over the winter.
Tomorrow I have 60L or a rye whiskey to do the day after that 120L of a single malt scotch to distill can’t wait to see how the
Single malt turns out.

The past 3 days I did a spirit run, the another strip with the feints from the spirit run, then another spirit run with the backset from the strip. Today I dumped out the boiler and thumper, saved some backset, cleaned the whole still, cleaned the fermenter, made cuts and proofed, saved the feints, prepped and then filled a barrel, washed and put all the jars away, started milling grains for the next round: Sundae Chocolate bourbon. Covid has given me all the time I've ever needed for this hobby.

Drove home from Canberra after visiting family and after a 6hr drive with a 3month old I stripped off 2 fermenters of Bourbon knock off and used backset to mash in 2 more. Hopefully after these 2 I'll have enough for my first pot spirit run.

And you live where?

Seriously good effort, I would not know how to even start that level of activity let alone achieve a workable outcome.

Finally got around to redesigning the mill housing and then motorising it. In retrospect the speed control is probably not necessary. Might swap out the board for one with a reverse function on it....

IMG_0542.jpg

Will give it a proper test on Monday, I’m slightly dubious of the spider couplings ability to hold onto the mill shaft under full torque....

It’s an old Crankandstein 2 roller. Just the bare essentials but it’s never skipped a beat.

Only issue you might have with the spider couplings would be from slipping on the shaft.
Dimple the shaft where the grub screws sit at the very least and it will probably be enough.

What sort of motor are you using to drive it? Wiper motor?
