Wired up a digital ammeter/voltmeter into my control box last night. Doing a stripping run on a rum to test it out today. So far so good and its a real treat to know exactly how much heat I'm firing into the boiler.

Thats a good idea what does one of those cost they sell the ones you plug in but there only 10 amp.

That is what I was using in the interim, was having problems with my potentiometer being on a logarithmic scale which made manual adjustments way too twitchy on setting fine controls for the element.


Pic from testing it after being wired in. Set me back around $15 from ebay, took a few weeks to get here from china. Really liking how precise I can control my boiler now.

Have seen some very convenient and useful electrical gear from China, but if you get electrocuted from this non approved gear, you’re dead and if someone else does, you’re in jail. I sent a message to an Australian eBay seller once about their temperature controller for a fridge or freezer asking if it was approved for use in Australia and their first answer was that they had sold many in Australia but when I pushed further about approval for use in Australia, they admitted that in fact it was not. Be careful!!

Nothing too flash, just a few quick make shift gaskets from a silicon cake mold

Astro, you might want to check if that’s 100% silicon and doesn’t have fillers like most do.
Twist it up like a lolly wrapper, if it goes white it’s got fillers, if it stays the same colour your all good :handgestures-thumbupleft:

wired up a bilge pump for a test run through the lieberg tomorrow, should work.
Draws max 2.5 amp hooked to a 97AH deep cycle, see how it goes

I got a couple of these from www.5stardistilling.com.au to run my twin fan radiator, one for each fan. I also connect my high temp pump up to one when draining my boiler.

Recently moved house so took advantage of the move to build a better collar for our keezer. Also helps to have a new neighbour with some decent woodworking tools rather than trying to cut long mitres on a circular saw!

Paint is drying at the moment but once fitted I'll chuck some pics up in all its glory!

finished the plumbing , just need to prime and pressure test...

Got some new heaters for the fermenting fridges, the sparky brother inlaw reckoned they would be ideal for it, once he checks out the wiring and Im happy they work well Ill post some pics, they are low watt heaters used in big fuse boxes. 45w for my existing fridge and 60w for the larger 1 I am putting together. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
