Re: What's everyone drinking?

Tonight Im giving a drop that I should put in the recipe development section a taste - a drop Ive called "33&1/3 whiskey".

Basically it's a off the supermarket shelf cereal brew and the 3 major ingredients are of equal measures - hence the name.

It's a combo of Nutri Grain, Vita Brits & Nurses Corn Flour with 5kg of el-cheapo Aldi raw sugar.

After some 3 mths on oak its getting a real smooth flavorsome taste & tastes amazing with a splash of dry.

Me thinks this is a keeper :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Taste testing my last AG sugarhead whiskey.... well more like bourbon whiskey. I put 1.8 ltrs of cracked corn in with the barley to get a bourbon twist. Taste you bute... can certainly taste the edition of the corn. It taste very smooth, should be very nice on the tongue after a bit of age.

I'm on the last of my neutral spirit aged with American oak and cinnamon. I did a range of experiments a few months ago with American Oak, French Oak and cinnamon and so far this comes the closest to dethroning my go-to concoction that I call Valhalla.

After a big day yesterday shearing the sheep today has been a bit of a mellow day so thru the course of the day took some samples of all my aged stuff with that new lab style wine thief. Man the four CFW's I have aging all have their own taste profile and the first and second generation Manzano Chilli brandy is tasting even better than the last taste.

So after the tasting session ended decided to enjoy some of that licorice root based vodka I make. I really can't call it an ouzo as that really is just a brand name for a product that hits you like a brick where as mine just leaves a nice taste as it goes down and is much more mellow.

Everybody will wanna kick me but tonight (or rather this arvo) I'm drinking wild turkey 'n pepsi, why you ask? Because I'm such a newbie I'm still waiting on my first wash to finish :laughing-rolling: though I've no idea why I'm rolling 'n laffin according to the emoticon. But my first turdbo wash has finished, reads like it's gone too far lol but I figure it's the temp being 24 degrees instead of 20c. So gimme a week or 2 and I'll better answer the question :D when the TPW is done and drunk...hick. :obscene-drinkingdrunk:

Well spent the last week installing that 6x10x6' aviary we scored for free for my youngest daughter that loves breeding birds. Today finally finished off the internal door to keep the low flying critters inside the aviary and said well after all this work done the least you can do is grab me a 6 pack for the work. :laughing-rolling: Instead got told if you want beer go and buy it yourself :angry-banghead:

So not to be outdone decided to get that old ammonia fridge going to cool some apple ciders i made with a small addition of lactose to make it a sweet cider. Now as I do have that apple brandy aging that i did with my MiniMe adding 20ml of the spirit which is @65% sure makes a nice drop. Less than an hour of this ol fridge going got 6 stubbies in the freezer and they are down to 15 degrees now with it being 30 degrees or so today. So in an hour or will have a 6 pack of nice cold cider with a nice addition to add to finish Sunday arvo off.

Cheers Bryan

Poor effort in my hobby this year so far ... got nothing done but 4 x 15L ciders (only 2 of which we enjoyed) and a total of 15L mead (5 batches of different styles ~ Banana, Raspberry, Miseducating Fruit, Chilli and plain).
Fruity Meads have been racked today (2ndary fermentation - Plain and Chilli still fermenting even after 2.5 weeks)...

So, had a taste of the meads ... not YET impressed - very much like beer as opposed to a wine as they have been touted... Once I strip the Kale wash I'll have a 30L FV available to mix the Ciders ... good (but dry) times!

What yeast did you use? I did a few meads years ago, very hit n miss, rack possibly a third time?
